AGM batteries in Kenya

An AGM battery holds its acid in a glass mat between the plates rather than as free liquid. That makes it spill resistant, tolerant of deep cycling and able to take the frequent restarts that a modern start stop engine asks of it.

Most German saloons and SUVs from about 2010 onward left the factory with an AGM battery. If your car has start stop, brake energy recovery or a battery sensor on the negative terminal, fit AGM again rather than a standard flooded unit.

Common questions

Can I replace an AGM battery with a standard one?
We do not recommend it. The charging system on a start stop car expects the voltage behaviour of an AGM battery, and a flooded unit will wear out early and may trigger a fault light.
Do AGM batteries need coding after fitting?
Many BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen models need the new battery registered to the car so the charging system treats it as fresh. Our fitting team does this for you.
