EFB batteries in Kenya
An EFB battery is an improved version of the traditional flooded design, with stronger plates and additives that let it handle far more charge and discharge cycles. It sits between a standard battery and a full AGM unit.
Carmakers fit EFB to smaller start stop models that do not have brake energy recovery. You can move up from EFB to AGM, but you should not drop from AGM down to EFB.
Common questions
- Is EFB the same as AGM?
- No. Both suit start stop cars, but AGM handles higher electrical loads and deeper cycling. Check the label on your old battery or ask us with your registration.
- How long does an EFB battery last?
- In Nairobi conditions, expect around three to four years of reliable service with normal use and a healthy charging system.
